Upcoming Events
Medora Steedman Bass, the last family member to reside at the Casa and the driving force behind what is now known as the Casa del Herrero Foundation, wished for her family’s estate to ultimately become a resource for the community.
All of our tours, programming, fundraising events, and meetings are created to honor her written wishes and allow the community to experience and gather at the Casa in new, exciting ways. Click the calendar or scroll down for complete details on all of our upcoming special events.

Educational Salon Series: The Art of Collecting
This presentation, "The Art of Collecting," offers an in-depth look at the intricate world of fine art acquisition. Collecting is fundamentally a passionate, deeply personal, and intellectual journey that extends far beyond the simplistic view of mere financial investment. It is a commitment to culture, history, and aesthetic appreciation. We will begin by examining the dynamic and essential interaction between the key stakeholders and players who shape the global art market. This complex ecosystem includes Artists, Galleries and Dealers, Curators, Art Advisors, Auction Houses and Museums. A significant portion of our discussion will delve into the essential mechanics of the art market and the multifaceted factors that determine the value and price of an artwork. You are encouraged to bring your own questions to the discussion.
The talk will be held in the Casa’s living room, surrounded by treasurer from the Steedman family’s own personal collection, and will be followed by a reception on the Casa’s loggia.

Casa in Bloom
Casa del Herrero is excited to announce our upcoming event, Garden Party, Casa in Bloom on Saturday, July 25, 2026 from3:30-6:00 PM. We are committed to preserving Casa del Herrero’s architectural beauty and status as a National Historic Landmark for future generations.
Our past summer event, Noche de Gala that means so much to our community and us, will be suspended so we can share the good work that lives on through your support of Casa’s once-in-a-lifetime Save America’s Treasures (SAT) Grant. We would like you to be among the first to see the conservation work of the Exedras, Fountains and Lath Houses at our Garden Party, Casa in Bloom.
Come spend the afternoon at the Casa and enjoy a tour of the house, the workshop and the beautiful gardens. We’re delighted to offer special tours of the Save America’s Treasures Grant preservation project. Families are invited to join the Casa in Bloom festivities for an afternoon of fun. Light bites and drinks will be served.
Please join us as a sponsor in support of our mission:
All Sponsorships include recognition as a generous supporter in event and online materials, and website. All sponsors will receive a Silversmith’s Guild Membership
