The Steedman Family used gathering spaces throughout Casa del Herrero for afternoon teas to enjoy worldly discussions with family and friends. Our afternoon tea programming honors that timeless tradition in new and exciting ways!

This is a great opportunity to fall in love with loose leaf tea! Join in this light-hearted exploration where you will gain uncommon tea knowledge while experiencing some of the most naturally fragrant, aromatic and exquisite teas from around the world. In this 1.5 hour class you will experience first hand the magic of rare, artisan teas you never knew existed.

Real tea comes from the tea plant, Camellia sinensis, of which there are hundreds of cultivars that are processed in different ways. We will also uncover the myths and truths about caffeine, as well as general health benefits of different types of tea.

This is a full sensory experience! Topics and discussion will cover:

  • Detailed health benefits

  • Secrets of brewing the perfect cup

  • Professional tea brewing secrets for hot and iced tea

  • Proper use and selection of tea ware

  • Evaluating, selecting, and storing the best teas for yourself

  • Natural decaffeinating secrets unknown to many

Admission is $60.

Space is limited to 12 people. Reservations are required.

James Allen fell in love with tea 22 years ago during a 2-year work apprenticeship with Tea Master Zhuping Hodge and Austin Hodge - considered by many to be America’s leading tea experts. James became hooked and has been procuring, packing, shipping, teaching, and brewing tea for literally thousands of happy customers ever since.
