Casa del Herrero Announces New Board Member and Treasurer

SANTA BARBARA, CA, Aug. 30, 2024 — Casa del Herrero, a National Historic Landmark, has announced the appointment of Lily Marx as the new Treasurer of its Board of Trustees. Marx, a seasoned financial professional with extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, will oversee the financial stewardship of the organization as it prepares for its centennial celebration next year.

“We are delighted to welcome Lily to the Casa’s Board of Trustees as our new Treasurer," says Heather Biles, Board President. “Lily’s expertise in financial management will be instrumental in fortifying the Casa’s financial foundation, particularly as we advance our Capital Campaign in anticipation of Casa del Herrero’s 100th anniversary."

Marx brings a robust background in auditing and financial management, highlighted by her leadership in complex audits across various industries. In her professional career as a Senior Auditor at Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA), Marx provides audit and financial advisory services to the Department of Defense and other federal entities responsible for acquisition and contract administration.

Marx’s credentials include a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Her professional expertise is complemented by her leadership roles in several community organizations, including the National Charity League, the Bunnies Urgently Needing Shelter (BUNS), the Junior League of Santa Barbara, and the Lobero Theatre Associates.

"I eagerly look forward to working together with my fellow board members to advance our mission of preserving and protecting this treasured landmark. In her new role, Marx will be responsible for overseeing Casa del Herrero’s financial operations, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the organization, and supporting its fundraising efforts. Her appointment comes at a critical time as Casa del Herrero embarks on new initiatives to enhance its preservation, expand its educational outreach, and prepare for the celebration of its 100th anniversary.
